PRESENTATION TITLE: Getting up to Speed with PET: Modifiers, Medicare & More...
GOAL:
To enable participants to accurately assign CPT® codes and modifiers in compliance with the new Medicare NCD guidelines.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Discuss NEW modifiers for PET scans
2. Provide real-life coding scenarios demonstrating the appropriate coding of PET studies using the new modifiers and coverage guidelines
3. Review the NEW coverage guidelines for Medicare
Compare the NEW coverage guidelines from CMS with various local Medicare contractors, and understand the 'alternative diagnosis' guidelines
ABSTRACT:
This audio-web conference will cover NEW CMS PET Coverage guidelines that will impact the CPT® coding of studies performed by hospitals, imaging centers, and physicians. The content will address the new modifiers, new framework, and the updated coverage guidelines. The information will be geared to personnel responsible for physician and hospital outpatient coding.
The coverage guidelines will be described, followed by examples of appropriate CPT® coding. Real-life coding scenarios will be used to demonstrate correct coding and modifier use. Key physician documentation points will be also identified when applicable. |
