CSI on Demand 2008
PRESENTATION TITLE:
The 1, 2, 3’s of Angiography
GOAL
The goal of this session is provide instruction on key definitions and basic coding
guidelines for arteriograms.
OBJECTIVES
1. Explain the concept of component coding and how it relates to angiography
2. Define arterial vascular families and identify the most commonly catheterized families
3. Review the basic coding guidelines for arterial catheterization
ABSTRACT:
Interventional radiology offers some of the most difficult coding challenges that
exist today. This session will provide participants with a basic understanding of
the fundamental concepts of angiography coding.
The concept of component coding will be defined, and how it relates to the
coding of arteriograms. The distinctions between selective and non-selective
catheterization will be discussed in detail. Selective and non-selective
catheterization codes will be reviewed, and basic catheterization coding
guidelines will be discussed.
The definition of a vascular family will be discussed, and basic arterial vascular
anatomy will be reviewed. Examples of common types of arteriograms will be
used to illustrate key learning points. Attendees will receive easy-to-understand
instruction and helpful job aids to make interventional radiology coding as easy
as 1, 2,3!
